Introducing the Medical Dental Building

Synonymous with outstanding healthcare for over eight decades, Seattle’s Medical Dental Building has long been considered one of downtown’s most venerable destinations. With over 125 tenants, our build- ing continues to provide patients with the highest quality of care and most established practitioners in the region. Originally conceived and built by doctors and dentists to accommodate their practices, the commitment to maintain the building’s singular focus remains: catering to a community of excellent medical, dental and alternative care practitioners and their patients.

EXTERIOR

A HISTORY OF CARING
The Medical Dental Building is an eighteen-story, concrete frame, high-rise constructed in 1925 and later expanded in 1950. The building is composed of a two-story base, with a “U” shaped tower above, with the northeast half of the “U” added in 1950. Each of the distinct halves reflects its unique architectural era. The 1925 building was originally conceived by doctors who wanted to establish a real medical center in Seattle. The building was constructed with an exterior façade of terra-cotta cladding over hollow clay tile on the southwest, northwest and northeast faces. The façade facing southeast is cement plaster over hollow clay tile. The 1925 building’s architectural elements were clearly influenced by the earlier Gothic revival movement while the 1950 addition and renovation were influenced by the Modern Movement in architecture. 

The Medical Dental Building has proudly served as an office building primarily serving Seattle’s medical and dental communities since its origination.

The building has a gym with several variations of cardio and muscle-building machines, as well as state of the art locker rooms and towel service for building tenants.

Pharmacy
A pharmacy is conveniently located on 6th Avenue inside Bartell Drugs, “Your neighborhood Drug Store Since 1890”.

Parking
The Medical Dental Building offers an onsite parking garage that is available to all tenants and customers in need of monthly parking opportunities. The garage is operated by Reef Parking and is open Monday through Friday, from 5am to 9pm. For more information, call Mike Mitchell at 206.549.2823. 

Executive Conference Room
The Medical Dental Building offers a state of the art newly built executive conference room. The conference room is located on the 3rd floor and is equipped with a Smart TV, Click Share, HDMI cabling for laptop connection, conference call capability and its own private kitchen for catering. Tables are interchangeable allowing for training sessions as well.

Laundry Services
The Medical Dental Building also provides a laundry facility for tenants. The facility is located on the 11th floor – code access is required. Be sure to schedule your time in advance, this amenity is a very popular!

Cory O’Brien has been in the property management business since 2001. She started off at Trammell Crow in 2001 and then moved to JSH Properties in 2006. Initially her focus was on Class A high rise office and mixed use properties in the Seattle CBD, flex office/retail and suburban industrial for institutional and local owners. In 2010, she moved to the Tukwila JSH office and currently works on retail centers ranging from 10,000-190,000/sf, industrial warehouses and suburban office buildings for both institutional and private investors. In addition, she has managed several Receivership properties through the foreclosure and sale process.

HISTORY

Originally constructed in 1925 and expanded in 1950, the Medical Dental Building was envisioned as a “real medical center in Seattle”.

Original plans for expansion were set aside after the New York stock market collapsed in 1929 and private development came to a virtual standstill. In 1950, the second phase of the building was completed.

Today, the Medical Dental Building continues to serve its original mission: to provide a true health & well- ness destination in the heart of the city. The Medical Dental Building serves as a destination that caters to all aspects of a healthy lifestyle with commitments to advancements in health care, promotion of public health and providing dental & medical care for Seattle patients.

From south of downtown Seattle:
Take the Seneca Street exit off I-5. Turn right onto Sixth Avenue. North of Pine Street, turn left into the parking garage.

From north of downtown Seattle:
Take the Union Street exit off of I-5. Turn right onto Sixth Avenue. North of Pine Street, turn left into the parking garage.

PARKING

The garage at Medical Dental Building is open Monday through Friday, from 5am to 9pm. Monthly parking passes are available through our parking provider, Reef Parking.
