October 22nd Rally at Westlake Park

In the Neighborhood, Medical Dental Building

October 22, 2015

The following statement has been issued by the Downtown Seattle Elert program of the Metropolitan Improvement District (MID):

“There is a rally planned for 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22 in Westlake Park (401 Pine St.). The Oct. 22 Coalition to Stop Police Brutality is hosting the rally, calling the event “A Public Reading and Remembrance: A Demand for Justice.” The expected size of this rally is unclear, but they do have a permit to use the park until 9 p.m. on Thursday.

The group is using the hashtags #RiseUpOctober and #SayTheirNames on Facebook and Twitter. While this event appears to be a rally that is isolated to the park, recent protest groups have disrupted traffic by blocking intersections in Downtown. Please be aware of this potential during tomorrow evening’s commute.”

If traffic is disrupted tomorrow evening, the following social media channels are good sources for up-to-the-minute impact or route change information:

Seattle Police will be on-site and monitoring the situation.
